Let's have a best post contest. I go first. It's about how grateful you are about Masahiro Sakurai for making Brawl. Here's my post.

Tbh, Melee's the better game. Brawl just has online but with these local tournaments I've been starting I don't need it as much.
I'll still play Brawl for friendlies and online tournaments but I wanna get WAAAY better at Melee. Btw, some things that Sakurai did (tripping, making MK god tier, tripping, online lag, tripping, taking out some of the best older stages there were, TRIPPING[/i][/b]...did I mention tripping?) weren't such a great idea.

Brawl > Melee
But Mewtwo, Doctor Malleo, and Young Link should've been kept in. Young Link > Link > Toon Link.

In terms of:
Gameplay speed: Melee > Brawl Tech skill required to be good: Melee > Brawl Comboing ability: Melee > Brawl Strategy: Melee = or > Brawl Sex: Melee > Brawl
The ONLY reason Brawl would have ANY edge over Melee is the fact that online play unites the community more. But then there's lag, online 1337 trolls and whatnot, plus you're missing that human interaction that Melee gave.

You do have a point; Sex Kicks suck in Brawl. The only good one is possibly Luigi's.
Also, Brawl is alot easier than Melee. In Melee, everything was small, so only the guys with swords had the longest range.

Well, since Brawl's easier than Melee, then that means that Melee took more skill.
And since you're aspiring to become a competitive player, and competition ~ challenge, then if Melee is more of a challenge, then Melee > Brawl!
Logic...it's weird like that.

Here's what you said in my view:
"Melee is Brawl, so if you want to get better at Brawl, play Melee"
WTF?

No, the "wtf" moment is how you thought that up.
Melee's competition is better. Do you know why? Because it has a faster gameplay speed and more AT's to it. Therefore, learning all of these techniques is more of a challenge.
The challenge of it being a more difficult game to play well is what makes the competition so lively even after Brawl's release. People still play the game competitively because to be the best at Melee, you have to work a lot harder.
So if you're a competitor, you want the competition to be thriving, correct? Well Melee's competition is able to keep going even after it's sequel has been released. That means that if people aren't willing to switch over to Brawl, something about Melee must be better.
And if Melee requires more skill to play, then playing well would mean you have more skill. True, not all of that can be applied to Brawl, but certain aspects (spacing, mindgames) can be used in Brawl to give you an advantage. That's why when GXD said that pros lost the upper hand when switching to Brawl because they couldn't do their AT's, I said that was a giant load of bull.
These pros have the reflexes that they learned in a faster-paced environment, and they can implement it even better now that the gameplay speed has decreased. They still also have the spacing and mindgames experience. Not only that, but most of them can probably learn Brawl AT's faster than people who just started playing competitively with Brawl can.
So Melee > Brawl. And since apparently you don't get what > means, it means "greater than". As in, "Melee is greater than Brawl". If you're going to get better in Brawl, you may want to get those faster reflexes by playing Melee, the tougher game. Because by mastering the tougher game, you can play the easier game more skillfully.
NOW do you get it?
