Hey errbodeh.
So, I deleted my Facebook. And I did so without warning anyone, or at least getting other forms of contact, which was a dick move. Sorry about that.
The reason I left was because I felt that Facebook was rotting my brain. Nothing but mediocre memes (except the gems Kyle posted; he and the rest of the Circle were the only reasons I logged on in all honesty), bad political takes, and pictures of people getting on with their lives. I figured it was time I do the same, and Facebook was holding me back. Additionally I had an issue being connected to so many people for whom I don't really care and who never said anything to me. It felt fake. I literally had hundreds of "friends" on there, but I only cared about less than 50 of them, including my close family. And of course including you tallywackers.
I also felt a bit uncomfortable with the way Facebook handled my data. They're in bed with the so-called "big tech" oligopoly and Chinese interests, which doesn't benefit me in any way.
I'm still on Twitter as "Blue Ninjakoopa." Twitter is similarly draining on the brain and fumbles your data, but it's a lot less egregious and I think Twitter's filtering tools work better than Facebook's. I don't say much on there, and I'm not on it as religiously as I was on Facebook. I feel like it's a lot more streamlined. It's definitely worse for news, which I get from other sources anyway, but can be useful providing "snapshots" of events. Drew and Kyle are there, and so is Chad. I recall Brett saying how annoying Twitter was. I feel you, brother. It can be a cess pool, but Facebook is a cesspool with a less engaging layout and more people who are confident in and prideful of their own idiocy. At least on Twitter, most people hide behind a user name and anime profile picture, and it's more likely they're just trolls or bots. Lastly, Facebook seems to have been overtaken by boomers who spread a lot of weird propaganda about a variety of issues, among them the Lost Cause myth, verbal Trump-fellatio, and comparing BLM to the KKK.
I haven't forgotten y'all. I didn't leave because of y'all. If there's a way we can make the Circle happen somewhere that's not Facebook, I'm down. I just wanted to clear the air on the place where it all started (technically it was Smash Wiki, but an online encyclopedia that's been split is the worst place to hold a reunion lmao).
